On September 11, a seminar entitled "Features of Arbitration with the Participation of Ukrainian Parties" was held on the initiative of the High Council of Justice (HCJ) and with the support of the European Union Justice-Justice Project.

The presidents and judges of the courts of appeal of all regions of Ukraine, representatives of the HCJ, the Supreme Court and the National School of Judges of Ukraine participated in the seminar.

Head of the HCJ Secretariat Serhiy Pushkar noted that the РСО initiated the organization of such an event in view of the responsibility of the institution in ensuring the authority of justice.

Serhiy Pushkar expressed his hope that the participants will be able to deepen their knowledge, improve their efficiency, presenting the judicial branch of power as an equal partner, along with the legislative and executive branches of power.

Managing Counsel of the ICC International Court of Arbitration Ziva Filipic stated that the purpose of such training was to share experience, as both the international and Ukrainian legal communities have common goals, including building effective dialogue and establishing cooperation.

Team leader of the EU Project Pravo-Justice noted that insufficient attention was paid to alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration, during the course of judicial reform, in order to reduce the burden on judges.

"The topic of the seminar is part of a broader discussion related to the simplification of civil and commercial processes, improving the conditions for courts to focus on more important cases, involving the public, judges and all parties to litigation," said Dovydas Vitkauskas.
