EU Project Pravo-Justice Together with the Ministry of Justice Launched a Series of EU Talks
EU Project Pravo-Justice and the Ministry of Justice have launched a series of EU Talks with journalists, i.e. informal meetings of key stakeholders of European integration with media representatives.
The first meeting on communicating reforms in the field of the rule of law within the first Cluster “Fundamentals” was held on June 20 at the European HUB with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine – Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, Support to EU Integration Process in the Justice Sector Component Lead at EU Project Pravo-Justice Maja Cvitan Grubisin, and representatives of more than ten Ukrainian media.
Olha Stefanishyna spoke about the challenges of adapting Ukrainian legislation to European standards in wartime and how Ukraine managed to overcome them.
“Ukraine’s European integration is a complex process. We need to look for different ways of negotiating at different levels. Our first task today is to politically open negotiations on Ukrainian membership, which means opening the first negotiation cluster “Fundamentals”. This is a purely technical decision, and we hope that EU leaders will vote it in the near future,” said Olha Stefanishyna.
She also outlined the key reforms envisaged in the adopted Roadmaps on the rule of law, functioning of democratic institutions, and public administration reform. She also thanked EU Project Pravo-Justice for systematic support.
In turn, Maja Cvitan Grubisin noted that the EU Talks series was an opportunity for journalists to receive verified information firsthand, learn more about the essence of the reforms and the vision of further steps.
“EU Talks is not just a dialogue, but a platform where a common vision of Ukraine’s future in the EU and everyone’s role in this process is being shaped,” said Maja Cvitan Grubisin. She also emphasised that EU Project Pravo-Justice would continue supporting Ukraine on its European integration path and, together with the Ministry of Justice and other institutions, bring it closer to full membership in the European Union.
“Ukraine has adopted three important documents – Roadmaps of reforms to start negotiations on European integration. Therefore, we are now waiting for their official approval by the EU member states. At the same time, we continue supporting reforms in the justice sector. Our focus is on developing a coordination mechanism between all stakeholders to join efforts for the implementation of European integration reforms,” stated Maja Cvitan Grubisin.
It should be noted that EU Talks, supported by EU Project Pravo-Justice, will be held regularly. Their goal is to facilitate transparent media and public outreach on Ukraine’s key steps on the path to the EU.
